VG-related query

I suppose most of you have played through Kingdom Hearts 2 and Suikoden V. As is common knowledge, both games have prologues that can best be described as "long-ass". It's also a fair bet that FFXII will have a lengthy prologue (there's the 7-minute opening FMV, the tutorial with Vann's brother and who knows what else).

Given this, what's your take on the genre's - and gaming's in general - tendency towards making intros longer? When do these things irritate you and when do they not?
